GURNET LIGHTHOUSE

This is the Gurnet lighthouse. The Gurnet is a private community at the end of the Duxbury beach road before you get to Saquish. If you don't live there or aren't a visitor of a resident, you cannot drive in. So, I used to park outside and walk to the lighthouse. This is one of my favorite photos of the lighthouse because of the clouds and the lighting. Can you feel the day?

This is my favorite lighthouse for many reasons. One I grew up on the Gurnet as a kid and two I almost was stationed there during my stint in the Coast Guard. Too close to home because my parents property abbutted the C. G. property. So I went to Point Allerton C. G. station instead and probably had a better time, considering it was during Operation Sail 76 in Boston. Now I belong to a group called Project Gurnet and Bug Lights that maintain both Lights, so that they will be around for a long time.

It's such a beautiful lighthouse, and it makes me happy to know that it will be maintained for a long. Thanks.
